I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York, with a PhD in clinical psychology from the Graduate Faculty of the New School University in New York City.
My areas of expertise are anxiety disorders (panic attacks, generalized anxiety, PTSS and trauma recovery) mood disorders (depression, Bipolar), and alcohol and substance abuse counseling. I received my clinical training at the Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Clinic and the Cognitive Therapy Clinic at the New York Presbyterian Hospital -Weill Cornell Medial Center, the Institute for Trauma and Stress at the NYU Child Study Center, Beth Israel Medical Center Psychiatric Outpatient and Inpatient Services, and Bellevue Hospital Outpatient and Inpatient Services. My internship was completed at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center and postdoctoral training was completed at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center Women’s Health Project (WHP).
After the terrorist’s attacks of September 11 in New York City, I worked as a trauma therapist and researcher, and trained community therapists in trauma recovery therapy. In addition, I have specific training and experience in substance abuse counseling, including working at the Women’s Health Project and The Men’s Center for Healing and Recovery, which provides services to women and men who are recovering from the effects of physical/sexual abuse while striving to overcome alcohol and substance abuse. Working in these environments provided me with the opportunity to help clients who were struggling with major changes in their lives and experiencing much distress and anxiety as a result of these changes. In addition, I learned Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and techniques specific to treating anxiety and mood disorders.
During the time I have been in private practice in New York City I have been on staff at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital /Columbia Medical School as a Supervising Psychologist. As part of my responsibilities as a Supervising Psychologist I have supervised psychology externs, interns and fellows/post-doctoral students and have been an instructor and supervisor for psychiatry residents at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital. For a few years I was in private practice in Bellevue, WA and was on staff at Seattle University as a therapist before returning to the New York area to reopen a practice in New York City. Currently, I am an adjunct supervisor for Clinical Psychology students at McShane Center for Psychological Services at Pace University.
